For 30 plus years Kronos’ fearless exploration of sound – from the exotic to the esoteric – has redefined the string quartet canon and the future of chamber music.   In the process, David Harrington, John Sherba (violins), Hank Dutt (viola) and Jeffrey Zeigler (cello), have become world renowned for their extraordinary creativity and collaborations with many of the world's most eclectic composers and performers. Their expansive repertoire incorporates wide ranging genres including 20th century masters, contemporary composers and world music sounds. They have performed thousands of sold-out concerts from Sydney to Shanghai, and released more than 40 recordings of extraordinary breadth and creativity. Kronos' work has also garnered numerous awards, including a Grammy for Best Chamber Music Performance (2004) and "Musicians of the Year" (2003) from Musical America.
