Description: "SYMPOSIUM ON POSTCOLONIAL CINEMA STUDIES"
Organized to celebrate the publication of Postcolonial Cinema Studies edited by Sandra Ponzanesi and Marguerite Waller (London and New York, Routledge, 2012).
What is, or what might constitute, ‘Postcolonial cinema studies?’ This one-day symposium, held on January 31, 2013 at the University of California, Riverside, does not propose ‘postcolonial cinema’ as a genre or wish to essentialize it by fitting it into a taxonomy. It envisions instead ‘postcolonial cinema’ in relation to dynamic departures from colonial paradigms of knowledge and power.
Participants:
Jude Akudinobi, Sabine Doran, Lan Duong, Kelly Jeong, Tammy Ho, Ruhi Khan, Anikò Imre, Mariam Lam, Katarzyna Marciniak, Áine O'Healy, Michelle Raheja, Tanya Rawal, Jeff Sacks, Freya Schiwy, Setsu Shigematsu, Marguerite Waller
Date: January 31, 2013
