Holiday Carillon Recital

David Christensen, University Carillonneur, rings in the holidays with a selection of traditional and popular holiday music. The program includes a piece by UCR graduate Robert Giracello based on the Italian Carol Gesu Bambino as well as three settings of In Dulci Jubilo by Roy Hamlin Johnson.

UCR's magnificent 48-bell carillon is a musical instrument housed inside the Bell Tower. The cast-bronze, cup-shaped bells are arranged chromatically and precisely tuned so that several bells can be sounded harmoniously together. The bells are sounded by striking a series of wooden levers with the side of the hand or fingers and with the feet. This is an opportunity to enjoy the sounds of the season while relaxing in the pastorale atmoshphere of the UCR campus.

To view a selection of carillon performances, go to the YouTube website and type "UCR carillon" into the search box.
