Thelonious Monk, "The High Priest of Bebop", will be celebrated in a concert of original compositions performed by the UC Riverside Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo, in honor of the 100th anniversary of his birth. Also to be featured are special guest Los Angeles jazz musicians and UC Riverside instructors pianist, Gary Matsumoto, saxophonist, Dave Thomasson, and trombonist, Scott Whitfield. Original Thelonious Monk compositions to be performed on the program are: Well, You Needn't, Ask Me Now, Rhythm a' Ning, Blue Monk, Straight, No Chaser, 'Round Midnight, and Brilliant Corners, with arrangements by Quincy Jones, Sean Barrett, and Josh Welchez.

Free and open to the public
Though admission is free, a ticket is required. One ticket per person will be distributed at the venue one hour before the concert. Seating is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis.

Parking: Complimentary permits available at the Kiosk.
