Sound Imagination for Guitar
A recital and lecture by Flávio Apro (Brazil)

Flávio Apro is a guitarist, producer, researcher and teacher. He holds a Master degree from the State University of São Paulo (Unesp) and a PhD from the University of São Paulo (USP). Apro is considered one of the most distinguished Brazilian researchers on music performance; he has published books and several articles in leading academic journals. His CD “Francisco Mignone – Doce Estudios Para Guitarra” was released by the label Tempus Clasico (Mexico). He performs regularly as soloist in Brazil and abroad, and also devotes himself to chamber music. Apro is the South American representative of the Hermann Hauser Guitar Foundation, a nonprofit cultural institution based on Germany that organizes concerts and international competitions. He is the chair of the guitar program at the Maringa State University and visiting scholar at Cal State Fullerton, besides being guest in several educational institutions in Brazil and abroad. In 2014, he released two CDs for the prestigious label Brilliant Classics (Netherlands): “Nocturne” and “The Brazilian Guitar”, as well as “The Brazilian Guitar” (Delira Music), sponsored by the Brazilian Ministry of Culture. His latest release, “Flavio Apro Plays Napoleon Coste”, also by Brilliant Classics, is already available in the international market.
