Description: Campus-wide discussion "Women as Media Experts"

(Lunch will be served)

Higher education voices in the media – including on the opinion pages – are disproportionately male. Join a discussion about the inhibitions women faculty members experience in owning the title “expert,” and why it’s worth overcoming them.

The discussion will also include the announcement of upcoming media training opportunities for faculty, including from the acclaimed, New York-based OpEd Project.

The panel is moderated by Bourns School of Engineering Dean Sharon Walker, and includes:

  • Cindy Larive, interim provost and executive vice chancellor

  • Seema Tiwari-Woodruff, associate professor of biomedical sciences

  • Jane Ward, professor and vice chair, gender and sexuality studies
