About this Event
We are excited to announce that registration is now open for the Third Annual Structural Competency Conference, titled “How We Heal: Confronting Racism in Medicine.” Given the COVID-19 pandemic, we are holding it virtually this year.
Date: February 27 & February 28, 2021
Time: 8:00 am - 12:00 pm PST
There are no registration fees. Registration will close on February 25, 2021 at 11:59 pm.
This year’s theme will be focused on the analysis of structural racism in medicine and how this affects healthcare workers, learners, and patients. We hope to strengthen our network and connect our community to the larger network of antiracist work being done in these spaces and communities, in addition to uplifting those affected by the intersection of structural racism and health.
Dr. Yeva Johnson will be giving a keynote performance of poetry and text, and Dr. Denise Davis will be giving an interactive keynote address. Research proposals and creative presentations on this topic, a workshop led by Dr. Suzanne Barakat, panel discussions composed of organizers, scholars, and educators, in addition to virtual tabling with local organizations will take place.
We are collaborating closely with this year’s 2021 HDR Annual Symposium occurring on February 25 & 26, 2021. Please see their website for more details and registration.
