NOTE: This application is for advanced graduate students interested in being hired as a peer mentor. It will close at 11:59pm PT on Monday, July 15, 2024.
The Graduate Student Mentorship Program is hosted under GradSuccess in the Graduate Division. It aims to provide mentorship and guidance to incoming first-year graduate students in CHASS & STEM fields. GSMP Peer Mentors provide academic, social, and wellness resources and mentor 2-4 mentees throughout the academic year (Fall-Spring).
Requirements:
- The GSMP Peer Mentor Orientation is MANDATORY. It will be held in person on Monday, September 16th, 2024.
- Peer Mentors participate in the online Speed Mentoring session for the GSMP Mentee Orientation. Peer Mentors attend the opening luncheon with mentees, postdoc mentors, and faculty mentors. The luncheon date is Monday, September 23rd, 2024.
- Peer Mentors must be available to work approximately 11 hours/month (7% FTE).
- Peer Mentors attend at least one workshop, meeting, and/or social event with their mentorship cluster per quarter and submit a monthly report form.

Eligibility:
- Must be in good academic standing
- Must be available to work Fall 2024 through Spring 2025
- The Peer-Mentor position is a 7% appointment (average of 11 hours/month of mentorship)
- If you are a grant or fellowship recipient, please check if you are eligible to work and/or if you would need to request an exception
Notes:
- If you are applying to an academic year position, you will need to nominate 2 recommenders. They will be contacted to submit a recommendation form.
- The first recommender must be your P.I./research advisor/committee chair/graduate advisor. If you were to be selected for this position, they would need to approve this appointment before you start your contract with GSMP.
- Peer mentors who were eligible last year are not necessarily guaranteed eligibility this year.
