Chancellor Kim A. Wilcox invites all UC Riverside employees for a picnic lunch and social to kick-off the new academic year.

11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
HUB Dining Patio
Complimentary lunch will be provided. Seating will be available outdoors in the HUB Dining patio and lawn area as well as indoors in the HUB Dining Room. Please feel free to bring picnic blankets if you would like to enjoy your lunch on the lawn!
Come enjoy music provided by KUCR Radio and socialize with your colleagues. Be sure to grab dessert from the UCR Staff Assembly booth and visit all of the UCR Program Info Booths.
To ensure that enough food is ordered for everyone, please RSVP to attend no later than Friday, August 30th using the registration link.

I generally enjoyed this event like in past years, as it is a really good time to connect with people from various departments at UCR before the start of the fall quarter. Because of the significant local fires and the continued poor air quality, there should have been a decision (in my opinion) to move this event or at least most of it indoors to e.g., HUB 302 or somewhere equivalent. My lungs feel sore from being outside for an hour or so, which is unfortunate. I also worry that some folks with respiratory/health issues might have stayed away even if they had signed up weeks earlier.
