The 9th Dr. Jasbir Singh Saini Chair in Sikh Studies Conference brings together leading scholars, activists, and artists to explore the theme "Precarious Futures: Sikhs and Sikhi(sm) in an Uncertain World." This two-day event (May 9–10, 2025) provides a critical platform to discuss Sikh identity, transnational repression, gender marginalization, artificial intelligence, and religious resilience. Featuring keynote addresses by esteemed scholars, panel discussions on historical and contemporary Sikh issues, and artistic performances, the conference fosters an interdisciplinary dialogue on the challenges and transformations facing Sikh communities worldwide.

 

Attendees will engage with an exceptional lineup of speakers covering diverse topics, from oral history and political precarity to AI’s impact on Sikh ethics and spirituality. Roundtable discussions will highlight Sikh diaspora experiences, religious resistance, and mental health within Sikh traditions.
