 esentation will explore the ways that 20th century Chilean folklorists and
  artists Violeta Parra and Margot Loyola are remembered today. Together\, 
 musicologist Lorena Valdebenito and ethnomusicologist Hannah Snavely show 
 how the two musicians have been constructed as idealized figures within th
 e Chilean national imagination\, and the role of gender within such repres
 entations.\n\n \n\nPart of the 2024-2025 Florence Bayz Music Series\n\nThe
  Florence Bayz Music Series offers online concerts\, lectures\, and presen
 tations of academic research by Department of Music faculty\, postdoctoral
  researchers\, students\, and international guest artists and scholars.\n\
