This event is being held to honor the J.W. Vines Medical Society for their efforts to increase the diversity of students entering the medical and health sciences professions, along with their contributions that paved the way for the medical school’s community-based mission.

The event will provide an opportunity to connect with colleagues, partners, and leaders across the UCR campus and the Inland Southern California community. It will feature a panel discussion moderated by Denise Martinez, M.D. (Associate Dean of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, UCR School of Medicine) with the following confirmed participants: 

  • Ernest Levister, Jr., M.D. and Ancel Rogers, M.D. (J.W. Vines Medical Society)
  • Thomas Haider, M.D. (Philanthropist, member of the UCR Board of Trustees and School of Medicine Board of Advisors)
  • Craig Byus, Ph.D (Professor of Biomedical Sciences and Biochemistry, Emeritus; Former Dean and Program Director for Division of Biomedical Sciences)
  • Neal Schiller, Ph.D. (Distinguished Teaching Professor, Emeritus; Former Senior Associate Dean and Chair in Biomedical Sciences)
  • Teresa Cofield (Director of Pathway Programs, UCR School of Medicine)

The program is free, open to the public, and takes place on Monday April 1, 2024 at 3 p.m. in the School of Medicine Education Building II, room 104.
