Aikido builds strength, endurance and confidence. At UCR Aikido, great emphasis is placed on clean, precise technique, weapons skills (Jo & Bokken) and fluid Ukemi (the art of the fall or getting out of the way). AIKIDO, ALL LEVELS
The All Levels Aikido class provides a welcoming environment for all skill levels. These sessions focus on Aikido techniques, covering everything from footwork to strikes and reversals. Emphasis is placed on clean, precise techniques, covering everything from footwork to strikes and reversals. Emphasis is placed on clean, precise techniques and a variety of ukemi styles. Each class begins with warm-up exercises, followed by suwariwaza or hanmi handachi (kneeling techniques) and tachiwaza (standing techniques). The class focuses on dynamic pins and throws, with one or multiple attackers. Through attentive teaching and an encouraging environment, students will explore a modern Japanese martial art while building strength, endurance, and confidence. -Wear loose comfortable clothing. No jeans. A gi may be purchased through Aikido instructor. -No refunds on classes unless class is cancelled by Recreation Class Manager -We do not pro-rate classes unless class schedule is modified by Recreation Class Manager -If registering online and are not a current student, please visit the front counter to obtain a facility access card on the first day of class.

The Beginner's Aikido class is a welcoming environment for all skill levels. These classes focus on the fundamentals of techniques, from stances to footwork and uniting the breath with body movement. Classes begin with warm-up exercises, followed by suwariwaza (kneeling techniques) and tachiwaza (standing techniques). Emphasis is placed on static, step by step instruction as well as basic Ukemi (the art of the fall or getting out of the way). Through attentive teaching and an encouraging environment, students learn about a modern Japanese martial art, build strength, endurance, and confidence. -Wear loose comfortable clothing. No jeans. AIKIDO, WEAPONS
The Weapons Aikido class offers a welcoming environment for all skill levels. There is a progressive build-up of knowledge and skills that new students can easily join at any time, as the basics are always practiced during warm-ups. Participation in this class is highly encouraged, as it focuses on improving the principles of timing and distance, which are essential throughout Aikido practice. Using the Bokuto (wooden sword), Jo (short wooden staff), and Tanto (wooden knife), emphasis is placed on footwork, handwork, body posture, and precision in movement. -Wear loose comfortable clothing. No jeans.
