The Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering is pleased to welcome our seminar speaker, Dr. Congwang Ye. Please join us by attening his seminar titled" Design and Fabrication of Microcapsules and the Path Towards Scale-Up and Commericalization at LLNL".  

Biography: Congwang (CW) Ye is a Staff Engineer at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), specializing in microfluidics and microencapsulation. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Zhejiang University in China, followed by his Master’s and Ph.D. degrees from Purdue University. After completing his doctoral studies, he joined LLNL as a postdoctoral fellow and later became a staff member in the Materials Engineering Division.

CW’s research focuses on the development of micro-particles and capsules using microfluidics and advanced manufacturing techniques for a wide range of applications. These include sorbents for CO2 capture and utilization, catalyst protection particles, enzyme immobilization media, vaccine development, sacrificial fillers, flexible display materials, and energy materials for laser systems. He’s won multiple grants and awards including the 2025 R&D 100 awards.

In addition to his technical expertise, CW is actively involved in technology transfer initiatives. He leads commercialization efforts for carbon capture technologies and capsule scale-up production at LLNL, supported by funding from the Department of Energy, LLNL, and private sector partners.
