Our Chicano Link Peer Mentor Program extends a bienvenida into the UCR familia to new first-year, transfer, and graduate students.  Mentor priority deadline is May 17th, 2024. Mentee priority deadline is September 13th, 2024.

FIND A MENTOR:

Are you a new student? We can pair you with a trained peer mentor who can help you to:

  • Build a strong network of support
  • Navigate UCR and learn about your campus and community resources
  • Connect with clubs and organizations
  • Attain major-specific advice on professors, projects and key opportunities
  • Hone your study and time management skills
  • Develop cultural awareness
  • Adjust to campus life

 BE A MENTOR

Are you a current student interested in becoming a mentor? Your role as a Chicano Link Peer Mentor is to connect with new UCR students. You would serve as a positive role model/mentor and assist incoming students with their transition to UCR and connect them to our UCR familia.  It is important that incoming students receive information on campus support services like Chicano Student Programs.

Chicano Link Peer Mentors must...

  • Be a UCR student (junior or higher) with a cumulative and quarter GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be aware of issues specifically related to Chicano/Latino students
  • Be open-minded and flexible
  • Be energetic, motivated, and positive
  • Be willing to learn, grow and attend training as needed
  • Work with mentees for at least 30 minutes every two weeks
