Biography: Robert Tilton is the Chevron Professor of Chemical Engineering and Courtesy Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). He earned degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of Delaware (B.Ch.E., 1986) and Stanford University (M.S., 1987, Ph.D., 1991) and began his Carnegie Mellon academic career in 1992 after completing postdoctoral research at the Institute for Surface Chemistryand the Royal Institute of Technology Chemistry Department in Stockholm, Sweden. His Ph.D. dissertation was
recognized by the Victor K. LaMer Award of the American Chemical Society (ACS) Division of Colloid and Surface Chemistry (COLL), and he was the recipient of the 2024 ACS Award in Colloid Chemistry. He currently serves as Director of Undergraduate Education for the CMU Department of Chemical Engineering, and his teaching wasrecognized by the Benjamin Richard Teare Teaching Award of the CMU College of Engineering in 2020.
