About this Event
Our panelists will be discussing the latest in anti-aging science, disparities in healthcare, and the ethics of longevity medicine. But most importantly, they will be offering some practical advice for wellness and safety in older adults — useful information for yourself or someone you love.
The discussion will be facilitated by UCR Distinguished Professor of philosophy Dr. John Martin Fischer, who was at the forefront of the recently completed Immortality Project, a three-year, $5.1 million research initiative funded by the John Templeton Foundation.
The panel also includes:
Dr. David D. Lo, MD PhD, a Distinguished Professor of Biomedical Sciences in the University of California Riverside School of Medicine, where he is also Senior Associate Dean for Research. He has over 40 years experience in molecular and cellular immunology research, and is PI and Director of the Center for Health Disparities Research at UCR (healthdisparities.ucr.edu), an NIH-funded center supporting training and research on health disparities and community engagement.
Dr. Asma Jafri MD, MAcM, FAAFP, the chair of Family Medicine department at UCR School of Medicine. She has had experience in caring for the elderly in the community, in nursing homes, and the hospital setting. She was director of the Alzheimer’s unit at Valley Gardens Nursing home in Stockton CA for number of years and currently has a practice with Geriatric patients at Citrus Tower clinic in Riverside CA. She has also served as a consultant for the Riverside County Office on Aging. Her passion in medicine and medical research is to identify modifiable variables for the health of underserved and minority populations.
