View map Free EventRace and the Premodern Period Period presents "Skin in the Game: Teaching Race in Shakespeare". Dr, Amberdeen Dadabhoy's research focuses on Anglo-Ottoman encounter and exchange, and the representatons and intersections of race and religion in early modern drama. Crucially, she brings our socio-political movement to bear on early modern studies, such as her work on why Black Lives Matter in Shakespeare, and her publication, "The Moor of America:The Twenty-First Century." She was awarded the National Endowement for the Hummanities Summer Institute for her work, "Negotiating Identities: expression and Representaion in the Christian-Jewish_Muslim Mediterranean
