About this Event
In partnership with Prof. Ronald Mendoza de Jesús (USC, Spanish and Portuguese), the Department of Hispanic Studies at UCR is inviting Latin American intellectuals and academics Alejandra Azuero-Quijano and Rocío Zambrana to Southern California. The event will provide an occasion to reflect on recent political events in Colombia and Puerto Rico from a perspective at once philosophical yet rooted in the tumultuous history of the region.
On Friday April 19 we will have two events on campus. There willl be a session to discuss Zambrana's book, Colonial Debts (Duke University Press, 2021) from 12:30 to 2:30 in CHASS INTSS 1111 (held in Spanish, anyone interested is welcome and they might contact the organizers for more details, light lunch will be provided). In the afternoon, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, Azuero will offer a lecture, in English, open to the public, titled "Anthropology beyond Forensics: Doing Ethnography with Simone Leigh" in CHASS INTSS 1128.
