The festival is a three-day series of film screenings and roundtable discussions that will culminate on the third day, a Saturday, with a festive celebration. The festival will conclude with outdoor screenings, a “feria,” a fair-like space, with a festive ambiance under the stars on the final night of the festival run. We will celebrate Hispanic cultures in the Coachella Valley community by screening family-oriented films in Spanish with English subtitles, both contemporary and those from Mexico’s Golden Era. This platform, besides showcasing family-oriented films and local creative youth, will be utilized to inform and empower the migrant community, especially women and youth, on issues about education, health, and immigration via short films. The first two days of the festival, will consist of screenings at local higher education academic institutions, followed by roundtable discussions with the participation of each school’s community, experts in the field and representation from the Coachella Valley community.
