Residential Life is launching 2023-2024 applications for First Generation Mentorship Program (FGMP), and we are looking for mentors and mentees. We’ve had incredible growth in FGMP over its first two years, and we’re hoping for more involvement and additions to our mentor group during this upcoming third year.

FGMP helps first-generation college students:
1. Connect with at least 3 campus offices/resources, faculty, staff, or second/third/fourth-year students that also identify as first-generation.
2. Identify successful strategies that contribute to their academic and personal success during their time at UC Riverside.
3. Express their personal identity, perspective, and develop critical thinking skills to challenge societal norms within and outside the University setting.

This program helps first-generation college students navigate their college experience while creating a safe space for students to express themselves, receive assistance to overcome their unique challenges and prepare them for a brighter future. This is a great opportunity for first-generation students to connect with faculty, staff, and peers.
