On behalf of the UCR Department of Physics & Astronomy and its new Center for Experimental Cosmology & Instrumentation (CECI), we would like to invite you to our next special event on the frontiers of cosmology. We will be hosting a reception on Friday, October 17 at 5:00 pm to be followed by a public lecture Dr. Kate Scholberg, the Arts and Sciences Distinguished Professor of Physics at Duke University and a member of the National Academy of Sciences. The event is titled the "Frontiers of Cosmology Lecture: How to see a star explode from underground." We would be honored if you are able to join us.The reception and lecture will be held on the UCR campus in the University Theatre. Free parking is available in Parking Lot 6 Blue.

 

Featuring introductory remarks by UCR Chancellor Jack Hu, CNAS Dean Peter Atkinson, and 2017 Nobel Laureate Prof. Barry Barish

6:00 PM: Lecture

 

This event is free and open to the public. The local community, and middle and high school students, are strongly encouraged to attend.
