"Why do Hunger and Oppulence Exist in the Same World?"

The seminar will raise questions about global food policy and why it has not been possible to reduce hunger and malnutrition despite the presence of huge economic prosperity in some places.  Special attention will be paid to the Covid period.

Hilal Elver is Research Professor and co-director of the Project on Global Climate Change, Human Security, and Democracy at U.C. Santa Barbara and Distinguished Fellow at the Resnick Center for Food Law and Policy Global at UCLA.  Since 2014 she has also been the United Nations’ Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food.
