Kanaka 'Oiwi artist and educator, Nanea Lum, will be leading a student workshop on Kapala, traditional Hawaiian printing, for contemporary art practice. She will be teaching printmaking using hand-carved linoleum blocks, with graphic designs of Kapa (Hawaiian bark cloth), Tattoo, and animal signifying marks. She will introduce Hawaiian printmaking as a contemporary practice which emerges from the lifeways of her ancestors who practiced Ohe Kapala or carved bamboo stamping.
