Equity in the Mathematics Classroom: Who Do We Leave Out?


As educators, we commonly and unintentionally ask many of our students to leave their identity at the door as they enter our mathematics classroom. In doing this, we are leaving those students out which contributes to the opportunity gap, as well as underrepresentation in STEM enrollment, graduation rates, and workforce. This presentation will identify and discuss a common inequities in the mathematics classroom and approaches to mitigating and eliminating the effects of such inequities.
