Phyllis Gill Gallery is pleased to present Memoria: The Rooms We Never Left, May 26-May 29, 2026, a group exhibition of sculpture and mixed media work exploring what the body holds long after the mind has tried to let go. The title asks something of us. There are rooms we walk out of and rooms that never let us leave. The room where something happened. The room that smelled a certain way. The room where someone we loved was still alive. Memory does not live in the past. It lives in the body, in the specific weight of a moment that has never fully closed. These works understand that. They were made from those rooms. Made with honesty. Made with care. Made for anyone who has ever stood in a doorway and felt both things at once. The works move through memory, identity, cultural heritage, grief, shame, and love. They ask what we inherit, what we survive, what we choose to carry, and what we make from all of it. Each piece was built by hand. Each one came from somewhere real. Together they form something that is more than the sum of its parts.
Memoria: The Rooms We Never Left is presented by Phyllis Gill Gallery and organized by the Advanced Sculpture Class.
Admission is free and open to the public.
