About this Event
View mapAs an effort from POWUR (Physics Organisation for Women and Under-Represented) at University of California, Riverside (UCR), we are inaugurating a mentorship programme for undergraduates who are keen on going to graduate school in Physics and Astronomy Programmes.
As part of this mentorship program, we are planning to pair you up with mentors who are current UCR grad school students to advise you on the application process, review your essays, test scores, research background and more such things. We will also be organising a seminar series on specialised topics.
We are starting this programme with our first talk in this seminar series - "Physics and Astronomy Grad School Application" with a focus on Application Timeline, Materials, Test Scores, Essays and other things with speaker Dr. Alex De La Vaga going over each topic. Alex has experience helping first-gen students applying to REU programmes at UCR and brings his own insights for grad school applications to the table.
Please join us at PHYS 3035, Reading Room, UC Riverside on May 30, Friday at 11 AM for the seminar and chat with Alex as well as potential mentors.
P.S. Light refreshments will be provided for in-person attendees. This seminar will be recorded over Zoom. Please follow this zoom link to join the talk : https://ucr.zoom.us/my/ananyaucr
