About this Event
Led by Nico Valdivia Hennig, PhD Candidate at UC Riverside and member of the RĆo Junto Art Collective, this workshop introduces participants to the transformative potential of open-source game engines for creating small, accessible video games. Nico is an award-winning game designer, researcher, and ludic activist whose work bridges game design, cultural studies, and community empowerment. Nico Co-Founded the game studio Niebla Games.

Part of the Health Humanities and Disability Justice Lab event series, this session will equip attendees with the foundational skills to explore game design using open source tools like Bitsy. Participants will engage with the concepts of recreational equity, fostering inclusive and accessible approaches to gaming and game creation.
