About this Event
Free EventJoin us in the launching of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day and create a zine collage honoring Indigenous women throughout the world. Bring an image of an Indigenous person you’d like to dedicate a collage zine to and some details about their life and work you’d like to uplift or choose from the selection we will have available. The person could be a land/river defender, human rights activist, an artist, or a relative of past or present times. Indigenous Honeys will be facilitating a brief presentation and workshop to get you started and supplies will be provided for you to create your piece.
Indigenous Honeys is an interdisciplinary arts collective dedicated to cultivating space for Indigenous zinesters, artists, writers, and storytellers. Our work centers the voices, experiences, realities, histories, perspectives and talents of Indigenous peoples. We have experience working as a small scale distro, supporting Indigenous artists from diverse geographical spaces. We are dedicated to promoting self-published material because we recognize self-publishing as an accessible and autonomous strategy that interrogates settler colonialism and capitalism.
