DESCRIPTION:Did you know that only 6% of physicians are Latino/a/e/x in the
  United States\, despite the country being made up of 19% Latino? The Inlan
 d Empire has an even higher Latino community\, with 51.5%\, or 2.37 million
 \, Latino people and that number is epxected to increase to 74% by 2060. Th
 ere are significant health care barriers\, inequalities\, and poorer outcom
 es in the Latino/Hispanic population due to underrepresentation. Better rep
 resentation of Latinos in medicine is necessary to improve our communities 
 and change the future of medicine!\n\n \n\nIn 2023\, Congressman Dr. Ruiz a
 nd Congresswoman Dr. Caraveo designated October 1st as National Latino Phys
 ician Day. You're invited to join UCR School of Medicine for a free\, open 
 to the public event celebrating this important day on Saturday\, September 
 28th from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM. Join us for an inspiring day with lunch\, mus
 ic\, dancing\, and stories from local Latino physicians\, including  keynot
 e speakers such as the California Surgeon General\, Dr. Diana Ramos\, and D
 r. David Hayes-Bautista\, Director of the Center for Study of Latino Health
