 d meaning “middle\,” has been conceptualized by many Chicano/a/x and Latine
  artists as a term to denote a space of in-between-ness. Grounding their ar
 tistry in this theorization and through a series of movement-based explorat
 ions and rasquache (resourcefully tacky) play\, PGDC created Nepantla to re
 flect\, generate\, question\, and re-imagine Mexican American belonging\, u
 sing dance as a medium to experiment with the hybridization of Latine cultu
 ral markers and personal\, lived experiences. From quinceañera rituals and 
 border activism to Selena Quintanilla’s greatest hits\, PGDC dances through
  pleasure and pain to reach and process their sense of in-between.\n\nThis 
 rendition of Nepantla is in collaboration with the undergraduate students f
 rom the UCR Department of Dance\, who will be performing alongside PGDC. Ne
 pantla will follow a showcase of choreographic works by Riverside City Coll

  artists as a term to denote a space of in-between-ness. Grounding their ar
 tistry in this theorization and through a series of movement-based explorat
 ions and rasquache (resourcefully tacky) play\, PGDC created Nepantla to re
 flect\, generate\, question\, and re-imagine Mexican American belonging\, u
 sing dance as a medium to experiment with the hybridization of Latine cultu
 ral markers and personal\, lived experiences. From quinceañera rituals and 
 border activism to Selena Quintanilla’s greatest hits\, PGDC dances through
  pleasure and pain to reach and process their sense of in-between.\n\nThis 
 rendition of Nepantla is in collaboration with the undergraduate students f
 rom the UCR Department of Dance\, who will be performing alongside PGDC. Ne

 tudies\n\n \n\nPrimera Generación Dance Collective (PGDC) is a collaborativ
 e group based in L.A./ Riverside\, California\, and formed by four First Ge
 neration Mexican American artists: Alfonso Cervera\, Rosa Rodriguez-Frazier
 \, Irvin Manuel Gonzalez\, and Patricia "Patty" Huerta. Focusing on the vis
 ibilization of Mexican American corporeality\, loss\, and joy through movem
 ent-based exploration\, process\, and performance\, PGDC grounds their work
 s in rasquachismo (resourcefulness)\, generating works that speak to their

 d meaning “middle\,” has been conceptualized by many Chicano/a/x and Latine
  artists as a term to denote a space of in-between-ness. Grounding their ar
 tistry in this theorization and through a series of movement-based explorat
 ions and rasquache (resourcefully tacky) play\, PGDC created Nepantla to re
 flect\, generate\, question\, and re-imagine Mexican American belonging\, u
 sing dance as a medium to experiment with the hybridization of Latine cultu
 ral markers and personal\, lived experiences. From quinceañera rituals and 
 border activism to Selena Quintanilla’s greatest hits\, PGDC dances through
  pleasure and pain to reach and process their sense of in-between.\n\nThis 
 rendition of Nepantla is in collaboration with the undergraduate students f
 rom the UCR Department of Dance\, who will be performing alongside PGDC. Ne
 pantla will follow a showcase of choreographic works by Riverside City Coll
 ege and AB Miller High School dance students\, as part of a day-long celebr
 ation of UCR’s connection to other Inland Empire dance institutions.\n\n \n
