 rs have always been a source of great documentary value.  They record dire
 ctly the interaction between individuals and thus offer intimacy and refle
 ction that privacy provides.  There are many publications devoted to the l
 etters of such Spanish composers as de Falla\, Granados\, Rodrigo\, and Al
 béniz. These reveal the existence of networks of colleagues and friends w
 ho shared experiences\, thoughts\, and projects. In particular\, the compo
 sers express their ideas about the revival of Spanish music\, interweaving
  them with details about their formative days\, premieres abroad\, and rel
 ationships with teachers and students. My aim today is to (1) reconstruct 
 some of the personal histories that are revealed in the letters and (2) id
 entify the networks of Spanish composers who were committed to the creatio
 n and dissemination of Spanish music.\n\n \n\nPRESENTER BIO:\nMaría Ordi
 ñana Gil is a professor in the Department of Physical Education\, Art\, a
 nd Music Teaching at the University of Valencia (UV\, Spain). She holds a 
 degree in History and Music Sciences from the Catholic University of Valen
 cia\, and a Ph.D. in Musicology (2016) with a dissertation on music for ro
 yal funerals in nineteenth-century Spain. Ordiñana Gil has served as Dire
 ctor of the Master's Program in Music Performance and Research\, as well a
 s Academic Director of Arts\, Humanities and Communication at the Internat
 ional University of Valencia. She is currently leading a research project 
 on music\, networks and nationalism funded by the Valencian government. Sh
 e has published articles in prestigious journals\, lectured widely in Spai
 n and abroad\, and was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Foundation for Ib
 erian Music at The City University of New York.\n\n \n\nFree and open to t
