Join us for the Science of Parenting: Parenting Young Children, our 9-session course on parenting children 0-5 years old.

In these sessions you will learn the most up-to-date research on parenting and early brain development.  How to develop a secure attachment.  Positive child guidance strategies and how to read, talk, and play with your child so they are ready for kindergarten.

The classes include a light meal, curriculum manual, and graduates receive a certificate of certification. The courses are led by Parent Educator Victoria Patton (M.Ed. Human Development).

To register contact Kimberly at kimberly.pixley@ucr.edu.

SESSION 4: UNDERSTANDING CHILDREN’S BEHAVIOR The goal of this session is to provide parents with a better understanding of children’s behavior. We discuss the “meaning” and common causes of difficult/challenging behaviors, and effective, developmentally-appropriate ways to respond using positive child guidance. Active listening and other strategies for responding to children when they have a problem or need are reviewed. The importance of children’s emotions is highlighted.
