Eight Hours Don’t Make a Day is a stylish, tender, political, and raucous working class family drama set in West Germany and commissioned for public television. Rarely screened, this *hits* in a present defined by labor struggle, alienation, and austerity. The best viewing experience is holistic, but please feel free join at any point in the five-episode series. Throughout, the episodes feature: a young toolmaker organizing a factory alongside fellow workers, a guerrilla daycare pop-up, a woman seeking freedom from domestic oppression, and sharp, beautiful storytelling. In German with English subtitles. 478 min total.
Hosted by UC Riverside, Art History PhD Student, Sarah Grace Faulk, sarah.faulk@email.ucr.edu
