Award Description

Summer “Pop-Up” Faculty Working Group Awards are designed to encourage CHASS faculty to collaborate with faculty from other UC campuses in exploring a humanities-related topic of common interest over the course the summer of 2024. Of particular interest are new initiatives or proposals that do not have funding and/or that have potential to establish or strengthen UC system research networks.

Groups should consist of 4-6 members, half of whom are from campuses other than UC Riverside. Activities may include (but are not limited to) research discussions on a theme, preparation of grant proposals, manuscript development workshops and/or other writing projects. Participants agree to meet at least 5 times over the course of the proposed project. Proposals for groups larger than 6 members may be considered, but awards will not exceed $2400 per group, thereby lowering the per person award amount accordingly. Research funds will be transferred to participants’ home departments at the close of the project. Funds may cover research-related travel, research materials or other research-related expenses, in accordance with standard UC and campus policies. Groups that plan to meet in person on the UCR campus are eligible to make use of meeting rooms at the Center for Ideas and Society.
