The barbershop is a crucial space for Black men to learn, grow, and challenge one another. It is a sacred space where people from all walks of life are seen as equal as they wait for a crispy cut. We believe that the barbershop is a bastion of development for many Black males and is a needed space for connection.

On September 23rd from 11 AM - 3 PM in the Glasgow Conference room, African Student Programs is hosting an event called The Cut Up where first-year and transfer Black males will have the opportunity to connect with professional staff and upperclassmen to discuss how to navigate the campus of UCR. We will talk about academic success, living on campus, getting involved, and other things for thriving there. Also, the first 25 first-year/transfer Black scholars who sign up will receive a haircut from Riverside's own, Jay. Come learn what it takes to be successful in your first year on campus and connect with other Black men on campus. Food will be provided. RSVP is required for all in attendance.
