UC Cybersecurity Mandate Office Hours with ITS

Thursday, March 27, 2025 11am to 12pm

+ 2 dates

  • Wednesday, May 7, 2025 1pm to 2pm
  • Monday, May 19, 2025 1pm to 2pm

Faculty, staff, and interested students are welcome to join the office hours to chat through their questions or concerns around the UC Cybersecurity Mandate, particularly the UCR-mandated security tools and the upcoming enhancements to UCR’s multi-factor authentication (MFA) methods. ITS will also provide support to those requesting assistance installing the security toolset on their device.

As of November 2024, our campus policy requires that these security applications* be installed and run on all devices that connect to secure UCR networks and cloud resources. ITS and local IT departments are currently working to deliver these tools to IT-managed devices. However, faculty and staff who manage their own devices are required to download these tools from the UCR Security Toolset webpage and complete the installation.

*These applications are provided to employees at no cost. Employees who use devices that are not managed by ITS or their local IT department will need to install these tools themselves.

Starting February 24, 2025, the options that Highlanders use to verify their identity will change to more secure methods. Highlanders will be asked to use Duo verified push to authenticate as the new push notification standard. New alternative authentication options will be available, including biometrics and the Duo Desktop app. However, the ability to receive a phone call or an SMS text message with a one-time code, as well as the option to download a list of single-use passcodes in MyAccount, will no longer be offered.
