CASTING CALL: PLAYWORKS and NEW PLAY FESTIVAL

The Department of Theatre, Film, and Digital Production is seeking students who are interested in performing in online staged readings of new plays from TFDP undergraduate and graduate playwrights. 

PLAYWORKS: 
by UCR Undergraduate and MFA Playwrights                                 
Prof. Erith Jaffe-Berg, Artistic Director 
Premiere productions exploring issues and textures of contemporary life by the best UCR student playwrights. 

NEW PLAY FESTIVAL: 
by UCR MFA Playwrights 
Prof. Rickerby Hinds, Artistic Director 
An exciting festival of plays of full-length graduate students in the Creative Writing and Writing for the Performing Arts MFA program. 

SCHEDULE: 
All rehearsals will be held online via Zoom. Performances will be livestreamed later in the Spring quarter. Rehearsal schedules will be set based upon the availability of the participants in each play. 

PRODUCTION UNITS: 
If you are cast, you will receive one (1) unit of TFDP 170 in the Spring quarter. You may apply for both Playworks AND New Play Festival and, if chosen for both, receive one (1) unit of TFDP 170 for each production. 

INTERESTED STUDENTS: 
If you are interested in participating in Playworks and/or New Play Festival, please send Prof. Jaffe-Berg (erithj@ucr.edu) two things: 

A resume (listing acting, theatre, film experience) 

A paragraph explaining why you want to be part of the acting company for Playworks or NPF, if you have participated in theatre projects (including Playworks) in the past, and what you are hoping to learn about “concert readings.” 

Note: Students who have already been admitted to Playworks need not re-send their materials. 

DEADLINE: 
The deadline to submit your materials to Prof. Jaffe-Berg and be considered for these positions is Thursday, March 26th at 5:00pm. All applicants will be notified by Monday, March 30th.
