The UCR Education Abroad Programs Scholarship is to support students participating on the UC Education Abroad Program (UCEAP), Opportunities Abroad Programs (OAP), and UCR Faculty Led Education Abroad Program (FLEAP). This scholarship will be for students of all backgrounds and majors and for all available UCEAP, OAP, and FLEAP study abroad programs. This scholarship will be awarded in two application cycles: 1) programs that depart in summer, fall, and year, and 2) programs that depart in winter, spring and year (off-cycle). 

Eligibility: The award selections will be primarily based on academic merit and integration of a selected study abroad program into a student’s academic and career goals, as demonstrated in a personal statement.  Student must be currently enrolled at UCR and have had no prior study abroad experience. Scholarships will be awarded for the following categories: 

•  Students with financial need.


•  Students who demonstrate academic achievement.


•  Students participating in traditionally under-represented countries and/or programs.


•  Students who are sophomore or junior standing during their study abroad program are given preference.


•  Under-represented students include those who have transferred to UCR from a California community college or state university, veterans, first-generation college students, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) majors.
