Josh Welchez, director of the UC Riverside Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo, will present a “concert” of videos performed and recorded remotely by UCR's jazz students over the course of the 2020-2021 school year.

The UC Riverside Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo are composed of dedicated and talented students who represent a wide range of academic majors outside of and including music. In February 2020, the Jazz Ensemble held their inaugural University Jazz Ensemble Festival which featured groups from 4 colleges and universities. In the same month, the Jazz Ensemble received a “Superior” rating at the Western States Jazz Festival – an unheard of accomplishment by a first-time competing ensemble made up of majority non-music majors.
