About this Event
UCR Department of Music
Light at the end of the tunnel
an online concert of music for orchestra, chamber ensembles, and chorus
Ruth Charloff and Frances Moore, co-directors
Join members of the UCR Orchestra and Chamber Ensembles class, and the UCR Chamber Singers, to cap a spring of online music-making—celebrating both our achievements and our enthusiastic hopes for returning to in-person music this fall! Members of the UCR Orchestra and UCR's Chamber Music program present a happy variety of small-ensemble music: Abreu's Tico Tico samba for flute quartet, short movements for string quartet by Schubert, Dvořák, and Handel and for wind quintet by Mozart and Haydn, a horn and piano duo by Gliere, a flute and harp duo by Debussy, and much more—including short works by Fauré, Ravel, Bach, Reicha, Beethoven, and Marcello. The Orchestra performs a Prelude by J.S. Bach as arranged by Stokowski, and Pierne's festive Farandole. The UCR Chamber Singers sing music by Billy Taylor and Bill Withers, featuring pianist Jonathan Keplinger and drummer Miguel Diaz, plus Charlie Parker's bebop Bloomdido in collaboration with the UCR Jazz Ensemble.
