Working with Data Series - Software Carpentry

Version Control is the way to track revisions of a document, dataset, or process. This workshop will present options available to track and recover changes to different types of files, and provide hands-on experience to version control using Git. After this workshop, attendees will be able to identify the best type of version control for files in their project; and, using Git, create a repository, make and track versions of the files, and use GitHub to remotely store the repository. This half-day workshop provides hands-on instruction, guiding you through the basics of Git. Setup instructions will be emailed to participants prior to the workshop.

Working with Data is a workshop series focusing on skills, resources, and tools that help you take care of your research data. Workshops cover a variety of data topics that can be applied during different stages of the research data lifecycle, including version control, data cleaning, visualization, metadata, data storage, sharing, and preserving.

Priority will be given to those affiliated with UCR. Make sure to register with your UCR email. All UCR community members are welcome to attend.
