Virtual Stargazing - “April Fool" Astronomy

What were some common misconceptions in astronomy? Join us to observe the targets that have reshaped our understanding of the Universe!
Our virtual stargazing program is offering a special "April Fool" event on historically "bad" astronomy. We will introduce several myths, misconceptions, and misnomers in astronomy with a selection of celestial objects. A live view of the targets will be presented. Topics to be covered include but are not limited to:

  • Is Polaris the brightest star in the sky?
  • Is Milky Way the only galaxy in the Universe?
  • How to choose an amateur telescope?

As part of our new 2021 program, we will be including trivia questions and raffle prizes in the virtual stargazing sessions!
