Virtual Viewing of the Sun

Have you looked at the Sun through a telescope? Join us to observe the closest star to us and learn about why it's important to our Earth!
UCR Astronomy and UCLA EPSS (Earth, Planetary, and Space Sciences) are co-hosting a virtual solar viewing event! During this online event, we will be observing the Sun through telescopes and learning more about its properties and impact on our home Earth. Topics to be covered include:
  • Live view of the Sun (in different colors/wavelengths);
  • Formation of the Sun;
  • Surface features of the Sun, solar eclipse;
  • Solar activities and space weather;
  • Tips for solar viewing and learning more about the Sun
