The UCR Library STEM Team is excited to introduce office hours for winter quarter 2025, designed for faculty and graduate students in STEM fields.

Join us for personalized support in our topic of the month, or visit to ask us anything STEM/teaching related!

Upcoming Office Hours:

January 15  | 12-1:30 - Teaching in the New Year!
Do you have your students do research for your class? If they do any research in the library databases or for science news articles, you may want to look at incorporating the Information Literacy Standards for STEM into your research related projects for your courses. Whether you’d like suggestions of interesting tutorials or activities being utilized at other universities, to make a suggestion of tutorials you’d like to add to the library wish list, or to see about a class visit from the STEM teaching librarian, stop by to hear about the Information Literacy Standards for STEM that were approved as a companion document to the ACRL Frameworks for Information Literacy. The companion document expands on the ACRL Frameworks to contextualize and give specific examples of how these important threshold information literacy concepts can be applied to STEM research work.

February 12  |  12-1:30 - Love Data Week Dryad-a-thon!
Do you have questions about depositing your data and making sure it’s findable and reusable? Are you ready to upload your data into Dryad, the Open Source data repository supported by the UCR Library? Join us for this special LibSTEM Team Office Hour for International Love Data Week we will be featuring a Dryad-a-thon where we will be going through step-by-step instructions on how to upload your data into the Dryad Research Repository, which allows you to create a persistent DOI and citation for your dataset. Bring your questions and enthusiasm, we’re here to help you learn more about data repositories and how to use Dryad, ICPSR or other data repositories like a pro.

March 12 | 12-1:30 - Textbooks, eBooks, OER, and More
In honor of Open Education Week 2025, and as we start wrapping up one quarter and look to the next, let’s start considering the course book. Do you know the deadlines to put in a request to course reserves? Do you know how to find the permalink for an eBook you’d like your students to use in your class? Have you been considering editing or tweaking a chapter of a book that is almost but not quite perfect? Come talk to us about how the library can help with finding, or connecting you to the resources you need for your class. We can also answer questions about navigating OER repositories for resources, or sharing your thoughts about using OER materials with your colleagues if you’ve found a textbook or other source particularly useful.

Come and talk to us during our office hours, or reach out any time at libstemteam@ucr.edu.
